Copyright, Licensing & Author Rights

Copyright

Authors retain copyright in their published work.

By submitting a manuscript to JSKAR, authors grant the journal the right to publish, distribute, reproduce, and make the article publicly available as part of the scholarly record.

Publication in JSKAR does not require authors to transfer ownership of copyright to the journal or its publisher.

Authors are responsible for ensuring that they have the necessary rights and permissions for any third-party material included in their manuscript.

Open Access License

All articles published by JSKAR are made freely available under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International License (CC BY 4.0).

The CC BY 4.0 license permits others to:

  • Share — copy and redistribute the material in any medium or format
  • Adapt — remix, transform, and build upon the material
  • Use the material for any lawful purpose, including commercial purposes

These permissions are provided provided that appropriate credit is given to the original authors and source, a link to the license is provided, and any changes are indicated.

Author Rights

Authors retain the right to:

  • Retain copyright in their published work
  • Share and distribute their published article
  • Deposit and archive the published article in institutional or subject repositories
  • Use the published article for teaching, research, and other scholarly purposes
  • Include the published article in a thesis, dissertation, or academic portfolio
  • Share the article with colleagues and research collaborators
  • Reuse the article or substantial portions of it in future scholarly work, subject to appropriate attribution
  • Adapt or build upon their published work in accordance with the CC BY 4.0 license

Authors do not need to request additional permission from JSKAR for uses permitted under the CC BY 4.0 license.

Attribution

Anyone reusing material published by JSKAR should provide appropriate attribution.

Attribution should normally include:

  • Author name(s)
  • Article title
  • Journal name
  • Publication year
  • DOI or persistent identifier, where available
  • A link to the original publication

Third-Party Material

Authors must identify material in their manuscript that is not covered by the article's CC BY 4.0 license.

Third-party material may include:

  • Illustrations
  • Data or datasets

Where required, authors must obtain appropriate permission before publication.

If particular material is excluded from the CC BY 4.0 license, the article should clearly identify the relevant material and indicate the applicable copyright or licensing restrictions.

Authors are responsible for ensuring that submitted material does not infringe the copyright or other rights of third parties.

Author and Co-Author Responsibilities

Authors are responsible for:

  • Ensuring that they have the right to submit and publish the manuscript
  • Confirming that all listed authors have approved the submitted version
  • Obtaining necessary permissions for third-party material
  • Providing accurate attribution for reused material
  • Disclosing relevant funding and conflicts of interest
  • Complying with applicable ethical and research-integrity requirements

Where a manuscript includes material produced by others, authors should ensure that appropriate permissions and acknowledgements are provided.

Published Version and Scholarly Record

Once an article is published, the published version becomes part of the permanent scholarly record.

JSKAR may preserve and distribute published articles through journal systems, DOI infrastructure, indexing services, repositories, and digital preservation services.

Corrections, updates, retractions, or other changes to the scholarly record are handled in accordance with JSKAR's publication ethics and research-integrity policies.

Copyright and Article Processing Charges

Payment of an Article Processing Charge does not transfer copyright to JSKAR or its publisher.

Where an APC applies, it supports the journal's publication and operational activities but does not affect the author's copyright ownership or the open-access licensing terms.

Authors are not required to pay an APC in order to retain copyright.

License for Journal Content

Unless otherwise indicated, articles published by JSKAR are distributed under the:

Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International License (CC BY 4.0).

The full license is available from Creative Commons.
